The Educational Spot with Tran Bui on NBC (1998)

I eat more chinese food than the average American. And have an affinity for all things oriental. So it came at no surprise to me to learn that my great great maternal grandfather was Chinese. To learn more about the side of my heritage rarely talked about, I joined the Asian American Student Union at Florida State University. There I met Tran Bui during Asian Awareness Week. A local reporter, at the time, she was a keynote speaker along with Amy Hill, from the hit series All-American Family. Tran taught me how to write a press release and gave me my first television appearance on her segment called “the Educational Spot”. Just a freshman in college, and my Apparel Ism collection was already making headlines!
