After a frightening collision with another player, Russell Westbrook left with a literal crater in his right cheek. Westbrook’s future with his team seems in question at the moment which is a big hit to the team. Westbrook has been red hot averaging 30.4 points, 8.7 rebounds and 10.2 assists in February, generating talks that he may be in the running for this years Most Valuable Player.
According to the NBA, the injury itself was pretty gruesome, giving the resemblance of a hole in the middle of Westbrook’s face. The Thunder have been hindered by injuries all season and will also be without Kevin Durant, who underwent surgery to replace a screw in his foot. However all may not be bad for the Thunder.
Executive Vice President and General Manager Sam Presti announced recently that Russell Westbrook underwent a successful procedure to address a fracture to the arch of his cheek.
