Stacey Dash does not appreciate getting mocked.
The “Clueless” star hit back after BET made fun of the actress several times on social media.
The feud started when Dash was speaking on the Oscars diversity issue and said on Fox, “If we don’t want segregation, then we need to get rid of channels like BET, and the BET Awards and the Image Awards, where you’re only awarded if you’re black. If it were the other way around, we would be up in arms. It’s a double standard.”
BET responded to Dash’s remarks by posting a photo of Dash on the channel’s show called “The Game,” writing, “Soooooo @REALStaceyDash can we get our check back… or nah?”
Since then, BET has posted several tweets and Instagram posts, including a repost that said, “Aww dang. I loved you in ‘Clueless’. I had no idea that you actually were.”
Dash, who also believes that there should not be a Black History Month, wrote ablog post titled, “How BET lies to black people,” and called out BET’s tweet about “The Game,” saying she barely remembered the show.
“Thank you for reminding me, since most people have never heard of that show,” she wrote. “Why? It’s on BET. Quick. Name the top shows on BET. Drawing a blank? I think I’ve made my point.”
She also called BET a company that encouraged “self-segregation” and said that BET executive Stephen Hill has the wrong idea about the Oscars. Hill said that “it would be great” if the demographic breakdown of Oscar nominees mirrored that of moviegoers.
Dash wrote, “Wow. Apparently, Mr. Hill doesn’t understand what an Oscar is. Oscars are awarded to the actors and actresses who excel… not the audience.”
The actress concluded, “BET lies to American black people by telling them that the rest of America is racist, so stick close to your own kind. Anything that promotes segregation is bad! And they’re absolutely mortified that someone like me — an independent-thinking black woman — dares call their bluff.”
Something tells us this feud isn’t over. BET, your move.
