Chicago, Il – WQEB 97.3 gets up close and personal with the prodigy Venom

  1. What made you choose the name Venom?

It is a parable to spider man. Peter Parker turned into Spiderman and later on turned into Venom when he was exposed to the alien symbiote that took over his body. Venom was not a villain. He was an anti-hero. That is similar to what happened to my music. My music changed during my second album with God now being the center of this album and my lyrics began to be more inspirational. My first name Pierre which is similar to Peter’s first name.

  1. Where are you from? What’s significant about your area or celebrities grew up there? What’s popular in that area?

I grew up in the east side of Chicago, Illinois. It’s the same neighborhood as rapper G Herbo called Terror Town. The whole lake shore and beaches are very popular on the east side and is a big part of the culture.

  1. What made you pursue a career in music? What happened in life to make you stray away from music? Did you get married and have your daughter at the same time?

The love of God and music. I started out in the church, as well as writing books and poems when I was bored at school. I strayed away from music to focus on basketball and eventually became a proud husband and father. Marriage in this society is very misunderstood. The bible explains that when a man and woman become one flesh by laying with each other, that is marriage as long as they commit to each other under Yah (God). Therefore, I was married before my daughter was born in the eyes of the Lord.

Through my number one fan, my family… God brought me back to music. My first song became a local hit, so I knew I could do music.

4. Who was the first to stand out on your journey as an artist?

God inspired me to write music. My uncle inspired me to do music. He raps on my song called “Kings from the Bottom.” His stage name is Supreme. I have always been a fan of his music since I was a kid.

5. What do you hope to accomplish with your music?

I want people to hear the message. Money is not that important to me. I speak the truth in the booth and on stage. I also have a variety of beat choices. Some of them come from YouTube and others are sent to me from producers. The people within my circle contribute as well. I’m looking to become 100% organic in the near future.

  1. What are your current plans?

I would definitely like to start a business and make my own money from my company. It would consist of oils, incense, and other items that represent our culture. Landscaping and real estate have also been a passion of mine. I want to learn how to do them first before I pursue a career in both of these fields. I believe you have to be knowledgeable and know what you are doing in both of these fields.

  1. Who is your biggest supporter?

My biggest supporters are my wife, and fans.

8. Name an artist that has inspired your career.

Tupac inspired my music. The passion in his music and his drive to speak his truth. My sound is very old school meets new school. I reach different ages of people from different walks of life in a way they can relate. A lot of people compare me to J Cole, but I honestly have more in common with Tupac.

9. What would you like people to take away from your music?

Seek ye first knowledge and wisdom. I want people to hear the truth and seek God. All glory to the most High. My credit goes to him in regards to music and everything that I do.

10. Do you have a favorite quote or life lesson?

Luke 15:24 “My son was dead, but now he is alive again! He was lost, but now he is found!’ So they began to celebrate.
