Police Unit forever shut down due to deadly connection Tyre Nichols death

Memphis police’s Scorpion unit is inalterably disbanded later following Tyre Nichols’ demise. The Memphis Police Department said it had to be done because of their part in the death of Tyre Nichols.
The SCORPION unit is an acronym for Street Crimes Operation to Restore Peace in Our Neighborhoods. The Memphis Police Department made a statement on Saturday, shortly after municipal legislatures publicized visual recording of the deadly engagement betwixt Nichols and ex members who were placed under the unit
“In the process of listening intently to the family of Tyre Nichols, community leaders, and the uninvolved officers who have done quality work in their assignment, it is in the best interest of all to permanently deactivate the SCORPION Unit,” the department said in an announcement Saturday.
